Kimono in Rio

So in the space of one week, I went from Dubai to London and I am currently in the magnificent city of Rio, Brazil! See the bottom of the post to know why, in the meantime, here are some pictures of my outfit for my first stop - a visit to the famous Christ the Redeemer statue.

A lot has happened over the past month but the best part is that I am now a fully qualified lawyer in England, and even better, so are most of my friends! In celebration of more 8 years of steady grinding towards that purpose, my friends and I decided to take some time off to travel, explore and relax, after all, you have the rest of your life to work right? South America has always been on my bucket list so as soon as my friend Lucy asked if I wanted to do a mini tour, I said yes immediately! Our first stop is Brazil and of course Rio had to be our base.

I am so enamoured with this city, I'm not too sure where to start. It seems to be a city with everything from beaches with sand that dips luxuriously through your toes to lush rainforests right in the middle of the city! It might be a bit premature to say now, but Rio is very high up in my list of the top 5 cities I have been to across the world! Of course I cannot end this post without a picture of the famous statue! I didn't go all the way up the Corcovado mountain just to take 'outfit of the day' pictures, I promise! Fashion Week FOMO

That moment...or week when you try to resist all things New York Fashion week related for fear of crippling FOMO. Well, I failed. I feel left out here in Dubai, especially as I will be missing London Fashion Week by only few days! I arrive back in England a couple of days after all the excitement but lets not talk about that right now.

Instead, I thought I'd share some of my favorite street style photos from photographer extraordinaire Tommy Ton. There seems to be a theme, largely driven by the weather, but I just love the outfits that ooze style yet are practical for the crazy cold weather. I got so much inspiration from these shots especially as it is even freezing here in Dubai! Talk about freak weather!

OOTD: Denim on Denim in Abu Dhabi

One of the things I love most about living in the UAE is the amount of public holidays we get. Last week, we got another one so my friend and I decided to head down to Abu Dhabi for a spa weekend at Jumeirah Etihad Towers. Holiday Brunch at Al Qasr Hotel, Dubai - OOTD

Brunch is the 'done' thing to do in Dubai on Fridays and one of my favorites is by Al Qasr Hotel, set in the beautiful arabian resort of the Madinat Jumeirah. Brunch is usually all you can eat AND drink so I tend to dress very comfortably for the occasion!

Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience - Meeting Solange, Donatella Versace and more!

Hi Guys! Firstly, I feel I ought to apologise for the break in blog posts. I've been adjusting to this lovely city and in between work and play, it has been very difficult to find the time! However, I woke up especially early to update you on the incredible event that was the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience held last night in Dubai. I got to see attendees like Karolina Kurkova, Solange, Donatella Versace and more! I supposedly missed out on Naomi Campbell and Roberto Cavalli :-( Nonetheless, it was so much fun! Dubai Mall had the buzz of fashion week in London - runways, beautiful people and general excitement! Now on to the pictures! (copyright - please link to this blog if used)

Solange DJ'd at the Level Shoe District, looking absolutely stunning in her structured dress and box braids!  Donatella Versace Karolina Kurkova, former Victoria Secret Model Stole a glimpse of Franca Sozzani, editor of Vogue Italia What I wore - Dress from Oasis, shoes and bag from Zara The Shoe District was my favourite part. It had been set up beautifully with the Solange's DJ booth in the middle of the Vogue Cafe. Good music and beautiful shoes... what's not to like? It was an opportunity to mingle too, we met Talla Elle Samman of myfashdiary and Solange too! The guy who took the picture was so excited he didn't focus lol! I loved both their outfits! Solange kept the tunes coming until we left, I just wish I'd asked her what lipstick she was wearing! The Beautiful Souk Al Bahar

I love Dubai evenings, the usually scorching weather dips to a lovely temperature and becomes a lot less humid, making it perfect for exploring! Last week, my friend and I decided to check out Souk Al Bahar, a gorgeous area in downtown Dubai. It has quickly become one of my favorite places, especially this waterfront promenade opposite the Burj Khalifa. 
I love this zara Jumpsuit because its so light and perfect for the Dubai humidity. I quickly discovered that thick clothing, ie jeans, does not work while Dubai is still technically in the summer season. Look how flustered I got in my latest vlog!

I have to apologise for the blurry pictures, but it was a great effort by my friend who is just discovering the joys of my camera haha!

Notting Hill Carnival Vibes

My last week in London was a blur, full of good byes, frantic running around and agonising over how many shoes I could fit into my suitcase. However, I managed to free up some time in my schedule for Nottinghill Carnival - there was no way I was missing one of Europe's biggest street parties right before I left the country! I was so glad I did, I had a blast! I went with my friends, Natasha and Tinu, and sooo many belly laughs were had and memories created.

We were so hyped we really didn't need those Malibu shots!

Vibrant colours everywhere!

Notting hill carnival was one of those events I fell out of love with because at one point a few years ago, it felt like there was always drama with people getting hurt. However, this time around the vibe was completely different, everyone we bumped into was just there for a laugh and to have an incredible time, especially these girls!

I kept my outfit really simple as you usually have to walk a long way from the station to the different sound systems.

Dress: Zara, Shoes: Leather Converse, Satchel bag: borrowed from my cousin - I think it was from Primark or so, it was great because it held everything, including my huge camera!

How gorgeous are these two natural posers? Well, Natasha is a model and Tinu was a model so that probably explains it! This guy thought they could do better so he coached them along. I think in his youth he was a Tyson Beckford type! It worked! So much yummy food everywhere. I live for carnival jerk chicken. I need a recipe! At this point or thereabouts my camera died!
