Tutorial: Festival Hair and Makeup inspired by Lana Del Rey

It is undoubtedly the peak of festival season so I decided to share one of my proposed festival outfits! The emphasis is on comfort, hence why the outfit is super casual and paired with low leather converses (Selfridges).  I tend to do a lot of walking and jumping around at festivals so I find it is best to dress as relaxed as possible.

In addition, a slouchy cross body bag like mine is perfect because it keeps my belongings safe and you  dont have to worry about lugging a shoulder bag everywhere! The shorts (Vintage) and the crop top (Topshop) are also typical of any summer wardrobe so I added the fringed vest (Primark) to add a touch of 'boho' to my attire. I don't plan to attend any muddy festivals or I would have paired this outfit with some Hunter boots instead!

I decided to top up the look with a flower crown (Topshop) a la Lana del Rey and voila! I am festival ready! As promised in my last post, here is a full tutorial below on how to recreate my makeup look and hairstyle.

crease: matte dark brown shade from the same palette

under eye - gold glittery shade from the same palette

White eyeliner - MUA makeup in snow white

Black liquid liner: revlon colorstay in blackest black

Bronzer/highlighter - MAC skin finish - Gold deposit

Lip liner - NYX lip liner - Plush Red

The Flower Crown Beauty - Inspired by Lana Del Rey

I spotted this flower crown in Topshop over the weekend and immediately thought of Lana Del Rey and her trademark coloured garland and retro style makeup. I couldn't resist getting the crown as it would be the perfect accessory for my day at Wireless festival and Sandance later this summer. With my inspiration in full gear, I decided to film a festival makeup and outfit tutorial inspired by Lana Del Rey. I hope you like the pics :-) The pictures below were my inspiration, and I added my little spin by incorporating a winged eye and bold lip to stand out against my white crop top. Evening Glamour: The Grecian Maxi Dress

There is something about a beautiful maxi dress that has a way of making one feel graceful and elegant, in my case this maxi dress from Topshop also makes me feel very sexy but in a classy way! I love that it has a cutout detail and the all important thigh high split. Importantly, it is also very comfortable! Which is why I chose it to wander round Ibiza's old town.

We had landed from Barcelona earlier that day and were completely shattered but still wanted to do something that night, I mean, who wastes a day in Ibiza? We decided to stroll through the town and explore the amazing D'alt Villa, a castle in the heart of Ibiza town. In honour of visiting a former royal abode, I actually did my eye makeup this time, a green, black and gold smokey eye! Ive been considering doing a tutorial on this look... what do you think? Paired with the green maxi, I looked quite grecian! With the girlies :-) The view from the castle at night was spectacular. you must check it out if you are ever in Ibiza!

Makeup Tips for Glasses wearers

I joined the legion of glasses wearers about two weeks ago and I must say, I've been loving the geek chic glasses I picked up from my local opticians. I wear makeup almost everyday so here are my top beauty tips for glasses wearers. 

Enhance your eyes:

If you wear wide framed glasses like mine, they can overwhelm your face, so you definitely need to highlight your eyes so they are the focal point. You can do this by enhancing your lashes with a volumising and lengthening mascara, YSL's faux cils is my favorite. Similarly, brighten up your eyes by using white liner on your inner rim just like I did in the picture above.

Avoid fancy eyeshadow blends:

I tend to steer clear of elaborate eye looks when wearing glasses - all your hard work will be hidden behind your frames. Instead, I prefer to bring the focus to my lips by wearing red or pink lipsticks in flattering shades!

Brows:

I've mentioned how brows polish off your look before (here) and its even more important to pay attention to them when you are wearing glasses! I like to use Sleek's Brow contour kit to shapen and refine them.

Winged Eyeliner Tutorial inspired by Dolce & Gabbana Models

One of the highlights of Milan Fashion Week for me was undoubtably the opulence of Dolce & Gabbana's collection and the gorgeous makeup sported by the Models. The looks were characterised by strong brows, deep berry lips topped off with the perfect winged eyeliner, also known as the cat eye!

Get Ready with Me! + Quick Braids Tutorial

Yves Saint Laurent - Tient Touche Eclat Foundation Review

Im so excited to write this review because I seem to have found a new product to love! Yves Saint Laurent brought out a foundation version of their tremendously popular touche eclat highlighter last year and I'm excited to finally get a chance to try it out. 

I went to Selfridges a couple of days ago to purchase this specifically as I'd head good things and wanted a break from my MAC match master foundation which had conveniently run out. I used it, fell in love and decided to share my own thoughts on the well known Yves Saint Laurent Teint Touche Eclat Foundation... so here we go!

Blue Smokey Eye - Night out makeup using Urban Decay's Black Palette

I was out at the Box London last friday and decided to try a little bit more than my usual plain face and popping lipstick so I messed around with Urban Decay's Black palette and come up with the FOTN you see above :-)

Unfortunately the pictures aren't so clear but you get the gist! I decided to go for a blue smokey eye using only Sabbath and Black Dog. I love Urban Decay's Palette's the pigments are very rich and you don't need to put in a lot of work to get the colour payoff. I got the palette in spain last year for about 10 euros and its been a staple in my makeup arsenal since then! Its sold out now but you can still get it from eBay - I wholly recommend the palette for dark makeup looks. I'll do a full review of the palette shortly with swatches and the like but for now you can see the colours below.

For the rest of my face I used the sleek face contour kit for my highlights and contouring and also to darken up my brows. I topped off the eyeshadow with some Primark lashes and a black liquid eyeliner from Rimmel London. Finally I finished off with MAC Taupe as my lipstick and revlon nude lustre as gloss!

Audrey Hepburn Braids hair tutorial!

So I was filming a haul video and realised...hold up! My hair style reminds me of Audrey Hepburn's hair in Breakfast at Tiffany's so I of course decided to pause, take some pictures and record a tutorial on the look! I couldnt find anything to be my cigarette holder so I grabbed my mac lipliner haha.

Im also quite pleased with the makeup look too, so Im happy to do a tutorial if anyone is interested just let me know below. In the haul video I was filming I initially wore a dark lipstick by sleek called Mulberry, but of course Audrey Hepburn would probably never be caught dead in anything remotely goth so I went for my MAC nude lipstick in taupe instead.

My Super Quick Everyday Foundation Routine!

My foundation routine is probably the most requested beauty tutorial I've had since joining youtube. Its funny because it probably takes me all of five minutes to do my everyday makeup routine - Full face! Its never perfect but it serves me well! I like the natural look with a pop of colour during the week then I do a 'flawless' routine over the weekend.

Foundation: mac matchmaster in shade 8.5 - I'm thinking of trying something new - any suggestions?

Mascara: Soap and Glory thick and fast, I really like this mascara, it does the job but importantly its not clumpy! I missed out because boots had it on sale for £5 the other day and I spent too much time thinking about whether to get it or not... fail!

Blush: Sleek Trio of Reds in flame - I love sleek! The colour payoff of each of this is amazing! and you cant go wrong for £10.

Lip moisturiser: Vitamin E is great as a lip gloss, moisturiser etc. I love that I dont have to keep this on for a long time to feel its effects, and its great for preventing chapped lips... Thank me later

Sleek Face Contour Kit - Again, it does the job at an excellent price! It is also multi functional, I use the dark portion for contouring my cheeks but then also
to fill in my eye brows. I also use the highlight as eyeshadow sometimes.

My Favorite MAC Lipsticks

Lipsticks.

Lipsticks are the crux of my makeup collection. I have have them in many shades yet I never seem to every have enough! They brighten up or tone down my look and usually make me look like I've put in more of an effort than I actually have!

Quite a few youtube viewers have asked what my favourite lipsticks are so I decided to blog about them! Mac is my favourite brand so naturally thought Id start out with my favourite mac lipsticks!

Here they are (see below for descriptions - the video below is also great for seeing each lipstick in motion and natural light!):



Ruby Woo

This is a rich matte red colour.

I love the fact that its not glossy or shiny in anyway so it really helps to keep your face looking clean and not 'busy'.For example, I wear this to work quite regularly whilst keeping the rest of my face simple. It makes my lips the focal point without making me look like I piled on lots of makeup which you sometimes get with glossy finish lipsticks.

Im also convinced Rihanna has this lipstick, maybe thats why I love it so much lol

Girl about Town

This is more of a creamy glossy finish, I looove the rich fuchsia colour, its definitely a summer staple. I dont wear it as much in the winter but you can definitely darken this up with the help of a dark purple lipliner.

Taupe

You know how people talk about nude lipsticks that arent really your nude? well this is certainly my nude colour! I love it! Its also a matte finish but amazingly not drying at all. This is a great colour to use to balance your face if you've got dramatic eyes.

Rebel

This lipstick never fails to make me feel fierce! I love it! Deep purple, creamy, slightly glossy, divine!

Morange

Morange is a lovely bright orange with a creamy finish, its a bit hard to put on, and your lips definitely need to be lined, but its a great colour for darker toned skin

Top Tip

I never actually buy my mac lipsticks, I usually make use of the 'back-to-mac' program where you get a free lipstick when you return 6 empty mac containers back to the store. My friend gave me a bag of 20 or so empties recently so Im having a field day with those! :-D
